When the Words Slow Down

When I first started blogging, I was cranking out two or three posts a night at 2 a.m., coffee in hand - hence the whole 3AM Café vibe. Back then, the words came easy. The ideas were flying faster than I could catch them.

These days, it’s slowed down. Not in a bad way, just... different. The topics don’t come as easily, even though I feel like I have so much more I want to say. It’s the focusing that’s the problem. Pinning down one idea when a dozen are dancing in my head? That’s the real challenge lately.
I recently shared a post about Jelane - one I held onto for weeks because it felt almost too personal. I asked him if it was okay to share, and he said, “Yes, post it if you want to.” I told him I’d been struggling to find things to write about, and he replied, “Write about whatever your heart desires, my love.”
And there it is - my dilemma.
My heart desires to write about everything, all at once. Narrowing it down to a single topic? Whew. That’s the hard part.
I’ve already shared so many parts of myself - my kids, our dogs, our beloved cast iron skillet. I’ve talked about photography, jogging, weight gain, weight loss. I think, like most things in life, I’ve put pressure on myself to hit a certain number of blogs instead of just letting it flow.
But hey - would you look at that? Through writing this, I’ve found some clarity.
I need to let the blogs come naturally. If that means writing daily, great. If it means once a week, that’s okay too. So, if you don’t see a new post from me for a few days, don’t worry - I haven’t quit. I haven’t given up. I just haven’t found the spark yet.
And that’s okay.
Because the moment will come - when I sit down at this keyboard and the words pour out like they always do. And when they do, I’ll be right here, ready to share them with you.
Until next time…
