The Start of Something Steady

I took a picture today of my daughter and her fiancé, Diezel.

They look so happy. The kind of happy that makes the world soften around the edges.

The kind of happy that lives in the stolen glances, the inside jokes, the gentle way they lean into each other.

My wishes for them are simple, but sacred:

That they laugh more than they argue.

That they always find their way back to each other, even after hard days.

That their home be filled with music, forgiveness, and the smell of something good on the stove.

That they never forget what brought them together - and that they keep choosing each other, over and over again.

Love that grows old doesn’t look like the movies.

It looks like coffee at 6AM.

Like folded laundry and gas station snacks on a road trip.

Like knowing what the other needs without asking.

And choosing kindness, even when you’re tired.

So here’s to their beginning -

May it be built on laughter, grace, and grit.

And may this photo always remind them of where it all started.
