Couch to 5K – Take 2

I laced up my shoes, excited and ready for today’s "run" - and yes, we are still calling it a run, even though about 98% of my time was spent briskly walking while clinging to life. Mind your business.

Anyway, back to my story...

First let me say I forgot my headphones today. Yet, there I was - still stubborn enough to stick to my run. It wasn’t easy. Determination glared at the empty air where music should be and said, "we’re doing this anyway." But I digress....

Not Fast, But Still Moving
Not Fast, But Still Moving

There I was, bright-eyed and ready. My body greeted me like an old friend: “Oh hey, look who decided to show up again.” Meanwhile, my muscles said, “Well, well, we really didn’t think we’d be seeing you again.”

Now, don’t get it twisted - I wasn’t magically any more in shape today than I was a few days ago. Maybe it was just a little extra confidence or just a little kick in my step. Whatever it was, I managed to run a few more intervals this time around. So yes, my friends, I am officially - and legally - allowed to call this a run. No one can argue. It's legit. Certified. Frame it.

Bonus victory: every driver I encountered today treated this goal-chasing runner (yes, runner) with the care and respect usually reserved for Olympic torch bearers. Honestly, I’m feeling pretty famous.

And somewhere near the end, as my breath evened out and my steps found a rhythm, I thought: You know... this isn't so bad. Maybe, just maybe, I can turn this into a habit. One small running interval at a time, building something bigger, stronger, and braver than I was the day before.
