I mean, I joke - but that’s pretty much how my early mornings go.

Sure, I’ve romanticized my insomnia: I write my best work at 3AM, and there’s a strange, peaceful magic that only 2AM can offer. But by 6AM? That peaceful feeling gets absolutely flattened by a freight train of exhaustion that sticks with me all day long.

Some people have a morning routine involving workouts and protein shakes. Mine involves caffeine, denial, and a countdown to my next nap like it’s Christmas morning.

But you know what? I’ve made peace with it. This is my version of balance - a little chaos, a lot of coffee, and the sweetest naps you’ve ever seen. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfectly mine.

Every afternoon, like clockwork, I climb into my always-made bed, pull my favorite blanket up to my chin, and drift off with my dog curled up on her blanket beside me. It’s not glamorous, but it’s home - and it’s enough.

So, in the spirit of survival, here are a few hard-won lessons from a chronically sleep-deprived expert:

1. Don’t grocery shop.

You’ll come home with seventeen types of cheese and no bread. Trust me. It’s not worth it.

2. Don’t attempt a new hairstyle.

Sleep deprivation is not the time for creativity. You’ll either invent a new look… or terrify small children.

3. Don’t make important decisions.

At least not before the energy drink kicks in. Your future self will thank you.

4. If you say something embarrassing, blame it on being in REM sleep while awake.

It’s surprisingly relatable - and hey, you might even make a new friend!

5. No matter how tempting it is, do not - I repeat, do not - drink another energy drink at 7PM.

Unless you enjoy full-blown existential crises at 2AM, in which case... carry on.

Bonus tip:

This blog was unofficially sponsored by Alani Nu - my energy drink of choice. It’s gotten me through more sleepless days than I care to count. (Okay, not really. They don’t know I’m alive. But if you haven’t tried one, consider that Advice #6. You’re welcome.)

At the end of the day, life between sleep and caffeine might not look polished - but it’s full of grit, humor, and just enough heart to keep going. And really, that’s more than enough.

One day I’ll get my act together. Probably. Maybe. Okay, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
